ABOUT GUIDBENCH

A useful workbench for identifiers.

GuidBench is a free SmartFACT tool for developers and integrators. Generate UUID v4, UUID v7, ULID and Nano ID batches, choose a useful output format, or inspect an existing UUID without uploading it.

Free, without a gate

No account, email address, subscription or trial is needed. The generator and inspector run in your browser. Your work is temporary until you copy or download it.

Careful about what a check means

A UUID structure check can explain the representation, variant, version and an embedded v7 timestamp. It cannot prove uniqueness, secure generation, ownership or fitness for your application. The generator uses cryptographic random bytes. UUID v7 draws a fresh random suffix for every ID by default. Its optional Sequential within this set setting keeps one timestamp and increments a random starting suffix throughout the whole set, even if the clock changes during generation. Each Generate starts a fresh independently seeded set, with no guaranteed order between sets. Neighbouring IDs in that mode are predictable. ULID always uses monotonic suffix increments here.

Compact UUIDs and short identifiers

A compact UUID has 32 hexadecimal digits without hyphens. Choose UUID v4 or v7, keep Text encoding and turn off Hyphens. Nano ID and ULID are separate formats. The inspector gives explanatory hints for possible other formats, without validating them as UUIDs or guessing their version or creation time.

Part of SmartFACT

SmartFACT makes useful tools for factory work and the systems around it. Try FeedBench for CSV and JSON file checks or BarcodeBench to explain scanned values. Explore the whole suite.

Standards and inspiration

GuidBench uses the RFC 9562 UUID layouts and the ULID specification. The convenient GUIDGenerator utility inspired the brief; GuidBench has its own implementation and interface.
